At Least 1 Dead After Ferrari Crashes, Burns On Highway 1 In Sonoma County

SONOMA (CBS SF) -- At least one person is dead after a Ferrari crashed just south of Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road in northern Sonoma County, Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol received calls of an overturned Ferrari at about 11 a.m.

Witnesses say they were unable to save the trapped victim. The car melted into the asphalt before the fire department could arrive.

The burning car sparked a small wildfire which was quickly brought under control.

The crash is under investigation. Highway 1 between Timber Cover Road and Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road was closed until 5:30 p.m.
