CHICAGO (CBS/AP) — Madison Bumgarner allowed two runs while pitching neatly into the seventh inning, Marco Scutaro had three hits and the San Francisco Giants held off the Chicago Cubs 3-2 on Saturday.

Pinch-hitter Dioner Navarro hit a two-out, two-run homer off Bumgarner in the seventh to pull the Cubs to 3-2. It was Navarro’s second career pinch home run in two days, each hit from a different side of the plate. His tying homer in the ninth Friday was hit from the left side.

The Cubs threatened in the eighth, putting two on with no outs, before Alfonso Soriano grounded out and Welington Castillo hit into a double play against Santiago Casilla, who earned his first save. Giants closer Sergio Romo was unavailable after throwing four of the last five games.

Bumgarner (3-0) struck out six and walked two, one intentional, in 6 2-3 innings.

Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija (1-2) allowed two runs and seven hits, struck out five and walked one in six innings. In his previous start, he struck out a career-high 13 and allowed four runs in 5 2-3 innings in Atlanta.

A few snowflakes fell in the morning, and the temperature at first pitch was 38 degrees.

Gregor Blanco’s RBI single snapped a scoreless tie in the fifth. He drove in Andres Torres, who led off with a double.

The Giants went ahead 2-0 in the sixth on Pablo Sandoval’s RBI single. Scutaro scored after he led off with a single and advanced on a wild pitch. Samardzija struck out Torres looking to end the inning with runners at the corners.

Scutaro’s RBI single off Michael Bowden in the seventh made it 3-0. Bumgarner scored from second as right fielder Scott Hairston threw to the middle of the infield.

The Cubs put runners on second and third with no outs in the second but were unable to score. After Soriano singled and advanced on an error, Hairston was hit by a pitch. The pair then pulled off a double steal.

After two strikeouts, Bumgarner intentionally walked Alberto Gonzalez to bring up Samardzija, who grounded out to end the inning.

Chicago also left two on in the sixth.

Soriano had three hits for the Cubs.

NOTES: The Cubs put closer Kyuji Fujikawa on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm and called up reliever Rafael Dolis from Triple-A Iowa. Shawn Camp and James Russell are possible closers. Manager Dale Sveum said he won’t use Carlos Marmol, who has a 12.27 ERA. Fujikawa (1-0, 12.46 ERA) said he felt discomfort in his forearm the last couple of days, but considers it a short-term injury. He said the injury has sidelined him for about 10 days in the past. . Giants manager Bruce Bochy presented former Giant Nate Schierholtz, now a Cubs OF, with his 2012 World Series ring during batting practice. Schierholtz hit .251 in 77 games with the Giants last season. . Cubs starting pitcher Scott Feldman has back tightness and will next pitch Saturday at Milwaukee, using the Cubs’ off day Monday for extra rest. He was scheduled to start Wednesday against Texas. .
