SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A 17-year-old girl was arrested Friday in San Jose for involuntary manslaughter when her father suffered a cardiac arrest after she pushed him to the ground, police said.

About 11:40 p.m. on April 6, police received a report of a disturbance between a 17-year-old girl and her 50-year-old father in the 1900 block of the Baywood Shore Square, according to police.

Officers identified the unresponsive father as San Jose resident Hoang Tran. Emergency crews performed CPR on the victim before he was transported to Regional Medical Center via ambulance.

Tran was in critical condition and on life support before he died at the hospital, police said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim and the 17-year-old daughter had a verbal altercation, which became physical.

The suspect pushed her father to the ground and the victim went into cardiac arrest and died as a result of his injuries, police said.

On Friday, police arrested the 17-year-old suspect and booked her into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for involuntary manslaughter.

The suspect’s name was being withheld because she is a minor, police said.

This was San Jose’s 13th homicide, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding this incident was asked to contact police at (408) 277-5283.
