(CBS NEWS) – The Rock is going under the knife. On his Twitter account Sunday, wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson revealed plans to undergo surgery following an abdominal tear:
The 40-year-old Hayward-born Johnson was forced to bow out from attending the Monday night L.A. premiere of his new movie, “Pain & Gain,” co-starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Michael Bay.
While it’s unclear what caused Johnson’s abdominal tear, the action star has certainly been keeping up a tough physical regime with his latest projects.
Earlier this month, Johnson went back into the wrestling ring to face off against WWE champion John Cena.
In “Pain & Gain,” Johnson plays a body builder criminal who works out around the clock. His other most recent film roles were in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and the action-packed “Snitch.”
His next release is “Fast & Furious 6,” due out May 24.
“Pain & Gain” opens in theaters on Friday.
