Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson To Undergo Abdominal Surgery

(CBS NEWS) - The Rock is going under the knife. On his Twitter account Sunday, wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson revealed plans to undergo surgery following an abdominal tear:

The 40-year-old Hayward-born Johnson was forced to bow out from attending the Monday night L.A. premiere of his new movie, "Pain and Gain," co-starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Michael Bay.

While it's unclear what caused Johnson's abdominal tear, the action star has certainly been keeping up a tough physical regime with his latest projects.

Earlier this month, Johnson went back into the wrestling ring to face off against WWE champion John Cena.

In "Pain and Gain," Johnson plays a body builder criminal who works out around the clock. His other most recent film roles were in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and the action-packed "Snitch."

His next release is "Fast & Furious 6," due out May 24.

"Pain and Gain" opens in theaters on Friday.
