East Oakland Standoff Ends; No Shooting Suspect Found

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An eight-hour overnight standoff at an East Oakland home ended early Tuesday morning, but police did not find the suspect they believed was barricaded inside the residence, a police spokeswoman said.

The Police Department's SWAT team made entry into the home, located in the 1100 block of 65th Avenue, at 6:08 a.m., Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.

The SWAT team searched the interior of the residence and found no one inside, according to Watson.

Officers had surrounded the home because they believed a suspect wanted in connection with a Monday night shooting was there, police said.

Watson said the shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of 90th Avenue. One male victim was shot and was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Watson said.
