49ers Invite Joe Montana's QB Son To Rookie Minicamp

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS Sports) -- A quarterback named Montana will participate in the San Francisco 49ers' rookie minicamp May 10-12.

Nate Montana, son of 49ers legend Joe Montana, has been invited to the minicamp as an unsigned free agent. The news follows Minnesota's reported signing of wideout Duron Carter, son of Vikings' all-time leading receiver Cris Carter.

Nate Montana's nomadic college career began at Notre Dame and included stints at Pasadena Community College, the University of Montana and West Virginia Wesleyan. At the Division II school last season, Montana threw for 2,480 yards and 19 touchdowns, leading the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in both categories.
