Woman Arrested In Pittsburg After Driving Away In Patrol Car

PITTSBURG (KCBS) - East Bay Parks Police arrested a woman after she sped off in the officer's patrol car Sunday evening.

Officers were called out to the Delta De Anza Regional Trail on reports that several individuals were allegedly using drugs, according to Sgt. Tyrone Davis.

The shoreline trail connects the cities of Concord, Bay Point, Pittsburg, Antioch and Oakley.

When the East Bay Park police officer arrived, he ran a routine check on the subjects and found one of the individuals -- a woman -- had three outstanding warrants for her arrest.

When the officer attempted to take her into custody, she ran, jumped into his patrol car and sped off.

The patrol car was spotted abandoned in Pittsburg about ten minutes later at Sherman Street and Alvarado Avenue.

A tip from a neighbor led Pittsburg and East Bay Park Police to locate the woman about a block away hiding inside someone else's vehicle.

The woman has been identified as 38-year-old Carlita Fowler of Contra Costa County.

Fowler was booked into Contra Costa Jail on several charges, including resisting arrest.
