Deadly Crash On I-280 In Daly City Blocks Traffic

DALY CITY (CBS SF) - One person was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Interstate Highway 280 in Daly City, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash happened near the junction with state Highway 1 at about 8:15 a.m., a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Preliminary information indicated that the driver of a Honda SUV lost control and struck the center divide, said CHP Office Michael Ferguson said. The SUV overturned several times and came to rest in the far left lane.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, Ferguson said.

Emergency responders were still working to clear the crash as of 9:45 a.m., and the three left lanes on northbound 280 are expected to be closed until about 10:45 a.m., he said.

The crash has snarled traffic, and motorists were being advised to use alternate routes.
