Man Shot, Killed Driving In Richmond

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- A man was shot and killed while driving his car near Richmond's Iron Triangle neighborhood Saturday morning, a police lieutenant said.

The man was driving westbound on Chanslor Avenue near 18th Street when someone shot him multiple times. After being shot, the man lost control of his car and drove into the side of a house in the 1800 block of Chanslor Avenue, Lt. Darren Monahan said.

Fire personnel arrived at the scene and attempted to save the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Monahan said he did not know whether the man was the shooter's intended target.

No suspect information is available, he said.

No other injuries were reported and the house the victim drove into sustained only minor damage, Monahan said.

The killing appears to be Richmond's ninth homicide this year, according to police.
