Firefighters Hurt Battling 2-Alarm Blaze At Alameda Home

ALAMEDA (KCBS) - Three firefighters were injured fighting a two-alarm blaze at a Victorian home in Alameda Monday afternoon.

Capt. James Colburn says the fire was reported just after 12:30 in a two-story house on Cedar Street.

Colburn said crews were able to put the fire out 2 hours later.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Crews were able to contain the blaze to the one home, which suffered major damage.

No word on what caused the fire.

Earlier, nearby homes had to be evacuated for a time as the fire spread throughout the house and was threatening nearby homes, said Colburn.

Alameda Fire requested assistance from Oakland and Alameda County fire departments.
