VTA Crash Sends Bus Into San Jose Home's Front Yard
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - Four people suffered minor injuries Monday when a small VTA bus veered into a homeowner's front yard in the Luna Park area of San Jose.
The accident happened at approximately 6:20 p.m., when a green pickup truck, said to have been driven by a contractor, apparently ran a red light at the intersection of 11th and Empire Streets and slammed into the bus. The impact sent the coach between two light poles and onto the front yard. The bus came to rest against the front porch of the house.
The bus driver was the most seriously injured; he suffered a broken hand. The three passengers on board at the time all reported minor pain following the collision; two elected to go to the hospital for evaluation and the third was treated at the scene.
There was apparently no more than minor damage to the yard and home.
Vehicle Accident Sends Small VTA Bus Into a Yard
The bus involved in the incident is described by VTA as a "community bus." It is a smaller vehicle that can seat a maximum of just 25 people. VTA service was not impacted by the incident.
