Man Found Dead At San Francisco Marina District Hotel

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - San Francisco police are investigating a suspicious death at a hotel in the city's Marina District early Thursday morning, police and fire officials said.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., authorities responded to 1501 Lombard St., the location of the Francisco Bay Inn, after receiving a report of an unconscious man, fire officials said.

Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene and notified police that the case was a possible assault, fire officials said.

Medical examiner's investigators also responded and determined that the death was suspicious, prompting the Police Department's homicide unit to take over the investigation, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The man's name has not been released and no other information about the case was immediately available, according to police and the medical examiner's office.
