Teen Arrested In Beating Of 83-Year Old Man In Antioch Parking Lot

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Police on Thursday arrested a teenager who they believe beat and robbed an 83-year-old man in an Antioch parking lot last weekend.

The police were not releasing the identity of the suspect since the person was a juvenile.

The arrest came late Thursday afternoon, five days after the robbery and assault of the elderly Antioch man in the parking lot of an Orchard Supply Hardware Store at 4873 Lone Tree Way, according to police.

The beating left the 83-year-old man in critical condition. An update on his condition was not immediately available this morning.

Police were unable to locate the suspect in the days following the attack and released surveillance photographs of a male near the scene of the assault in the hopes of finding him.

Police Friday did not say whether the male in the photographs was the suspect.

The teen was taken to Juvenile Hall in Martinez and was booked on suspicion of felony assault and robbery.
