Shots Fired In San Leandro Costco Parking Lot

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- Police in San Leandro are working to identify a suspect who fired shots in a Costco parking lot Sunday afternoon.

The shooting was reported at about 3:15 p.m. at a Costco located at 1900 Davis St. By the time officers arrived, both the victim and suspect had left. Neither has been identified.

Officers located an unoccupied vehicle that had been hit by a bullet. They determined the vehicle did not belong to the suspect or victim.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Police interviewed witnesses and attempted to locate video surveillance footage of the shooting, hoping to develop leads that will identify those involved. Officers have learned that a light-colored sedan belonging to the victim may have been hit by a bullet.

It is fortunate that no one was injured during this incident, especially when Costco had so many customers shopping at their warehouse, Lt. Robert McManus said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the San Leandro Police Department at (510) 577-2740.
