ANTIOCH (KCBS) — Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire that started at restaurant  in Antioch on Tuesday morning and spread to other businesses, a fire department spokesman said.

The fire was reported at a strip mall on the 2300 block of Buchanan Road near Gentrytown Drive at 8:20 a.m. It started in the attic above Al Giants Burgers restaurant.

Contra Costa Fire Protection District Capt. Robert Marshall said the fire has been put out but the blaze quickly spread causing the roof to collapse over four other business.

The other businesses that were destroyed were a nail salon, hair salon, barbershop and jewelry store, Marshall said.

Firefighters were still at the scene late morning extinguishing hot spots, he said. Gentrytown Drive was shut down as crews responded to the blaze.
