Warriors' Jefferson Picks Up $11M Option For Next Season

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- Golden State Warriors forward Richard Jefferson will exercise his contract option for next season, his agent said.

This week's announcement by Todd Eley of Stratosphere Sports was not a surprise.

Jefferson is entering the final year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013-14 season. His salary is $11 million next season.

The 32-year-old Jefferson saw limited minutes in the Warriors' postseason series after averaging 3.1 points and 1.5 rebounds in 56 games during the regular season. He began his NBA career with the New Jersey Nets in 2001.

Teammate Andris Biedrins also recently announced that he would exercise a $9 million option on his contract for next season.
