Sara Bareilles Goes Even More Pop, Gears Up For Tour With OneRepublic

(ALICE@97.3) - Sara Bareilles really wants you to hear her songs on the radio. So much so that she's willing to re-work a few of her new tracks so they sound especially good over the airwaves.

In a new video, Bareilles takes fans into the studio with her and producer, Mark Endert as they work on tracks from her upcoming record, The Blessed Unrest, out July 16. Basically Endert is making songs like "Brave" more pop, a genre Bareilles likes but isn't sure it always likes her back.

"I think in my perfect world, I'm a cool indie singer, songwriter but I'm not," she tells the camera. "I'm totally a pop person, but I don't always feel like I totally fit in."

In a previous clip from the studio, Bareilles defined a few of the songs the album as "dirty indie rock" or DIR for short.  In this video she talks about wanting the songs to sound "a little trashy." While there's many definitions of the word "trashy," Bareilles means it in the sense that by using unusual instruments, like a washboard, she can make the tracks sound a little less pristine.

With an album on the way, Bareilles announced she's hitting the road with OneRepublic for 13-dates. The co-headlining tour kicks off on August 29 in Denver, Colorado before finishing up on September 20 in Houston, Texas.
