PETALUMA (CBS SF) — Petaluma police arrested a woman who allegedly tried to rob a man in his car at knifepoint outside a convenience store late Tuesday night, a police sergeant said.

The male victim was getting into his car at the Quik Stop market at 1510 E. Washington St. around 11:40 p.m. when 19-year-old Lauren Gooler, of Petaluma, demanded money at knifepoint, Sgt. Andrew Urton said.

Gooler was alone in the parking lot while her friend Benjamin Felkins, 23, of Sebastopol, was inside the market, Urton said.

The man refused to give Gooler his money and quickly got into his vehicle, but Gooler reached her arm with the knife through the partially open driver’s side window and again demanded money, Urton said.

The man grabbed Gooler’s arm and was cut on a finger during a struggle, but he managed to drive away while calling 911, Urton said.

The victim followed Gooler and Felkins when they left in a vehicle, and he identified Gooler as the suspect when a police officer stopped the car Felkins was driving, Urton said.

Gooler was arrested for attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, and Felton was arrested for a violation of probation, DUI and an outstanding warrant, Urton said.

Gooler was in possession of a knife, and the officer determined Felkins was unaware of the attempted robbery, Urton said.
