Atherton Home Damaged In 3-Alarm Fire

ATHERTON (KPIX 5) -- A large home in a residential neighborhood in Atherton suffered significant damage as a result of a three-alarm fire on Thursday afternoon.

Menlo Park Fire Protection District officials said the blaze broke out about 2 p.m. at the home in the 100 block of Almendral Avenue, off of Selby Lane.

Firefighters said the home's patio and attic areas suffered the bulk of the damage; no one was home when the fire broke out.

The blaze also spread to some nearby trees and the started a small fire on a neighbor's roof before firefighters were able to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was under investigation and no injuries were reported.
