ATHERTON (KPIX 5) — A large home in a residential neighborhood in Atherton suffered significant damage as a result of a three-alarm fire on Thursday afternoon.

Menlo Park Fire Protection District officials said the blaze broke out about 2 p.m. at the home in the 100 block of Almendral Avenue, off of Selby Lane.

Firefighters said the home’s patio and attic areas suffered the bulk of the damage; no one was home when the fire broke out.
