Body Found Inside Burned Out Sunnyvale Home

SUNNYVALE (KCBS) — One person died in a Sunnyvale house fire that broke out Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The fire started shortly after 6 a.m. on the 200 block of Central Avenue.

Firefighters arrived at the small house to find it fully engulfed in flames. Sunnyvale Fire Department Battalion Chief Carl Rushmeyer said after the fire was extinguished they entered the structure and found an adult body of undetermined sex in the kitchen area.

Neighbors said a woman lived alone at the home.

The fatality marked the first fire-related death for the City of Sunnyvale this year.
