Firefighters Rescue Woman Trapped In Livermore Hotel Fire

LIVERMORE (CBS SF) - Firefighters have put out a fire in a Livermore hotel room Friday morning and rescued a woman who was briefly trapped in a bathroom there, a fire battalion chief said.

The fire was reported around 10:40 a.m. at the Studio Inn, located at 1321 Portola Ave. Crews also received several reports of a woman inside a bathroom in the hotel room where the fire broke out, Livermore-Pleasanton fire Battalion Chief Joe Testa said.

A man and woman at the hotel suffered smoke inhalation and minor injuries when they entered the burning hotel room in an attempt to save the woman, Testa said.

Fire crews arriving on the scene a short time later rescued the woman. She was transported to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

More than a dozen guests and a staff member were evacuated from the hotel at the time of the fire, which was confined to the hotel room where it started and was quickly knocked down, Testa said.

The guests, many of whom are long-term residents of the hotel, have all been allowed to return to their rooms, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
