Giants’ Vogelsong Throws For 1st Time Since Injury

CINCINNATTI, Ohio (CBS Sports/AP) — San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong threw Monday in front of reporters for the first time since undergoing surgery for a broken hand.

Vogelsong played catch before the Giants game against the Cincinnati Reds in a session that lasted about five minutes.

There’s some discrepancy over how far Vogelsong was able to throw, but reports had him from 70 to 90 feet.

He’s still several weeks away from returning.

Vogelsong has been out since since breaking bones in his hand on a swing May 20. He had a 7.19 ERA in 46 1/3 innings.
