Gunman, Driver Sought After Drive-By Shooting In Downtown San Rafael
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) - A 17-year-old boy suffered a minor leg injury when shots were fired into a car that was stopped at a red light at an intersection near downtown San Rafael on Tuesday evening, a police spokeswoman said.
A white Ford Taurus containing four young males pulled up next to a 1999 Nissan Maxima at the intersection of Fourth and Hetherton streets around 6:20 p.m., San Rafael police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.
Someone in the Ford asked the three teen occupants of the Nissan if they were gang members, and then shots were fired from the Ford at the Nissan, Rohrbacher said.
The 17-year-old boy, who is a San Rafael resident, was struck by a "fragment" of some sort but declined medical treatment, Rohrbacher said.
A 19-year-old Richmond man and a 19-year-old San Rafael man who also were in the Nissan were not injured.
The Ford was last seen heading east on Fourth Street, and may have driven onto nearby U.S. Highway 101, Rohrbacher said
