Woman Sexually Assaulted By Home Intruder In Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) - A woman sleeping in her bedroom was sexually assaulted early Friday morning by a man who broke into her Santa Clara apartment, according to police.

Police said the incident happened around 4:00 a.m. at an apartment complex on the 2800 block of Homestead Road, near Central Park.

The victim told police the attacker was armed with a knife or blade of some sort, possibly a box cutter.

Police said the suspect appeared to have entered through a bathroom window.

He was described as 5'2" to 5'4" with a thin build with possible facial hair and speaking in broken English with an accent.

Police said he was wearing all dark clothing, including a dark, beanie-style hat, dark-hooded sweatshirt, dark tank top and dark basketball shoes.

There was no word on the victim's condition.
