CVS Requiring ID To Purchase Nail Polish Remover In California

(CBS) - Photo identification will now be required to buy nail polish remover at CVS stores and nail salons in California, as well as in other states.

CBS Los Angeles  reports other stores in addition to CVS are requiring customers to be 18 years old to buy nail polish remover.

The product contains acetone, which is a key ingredient in the production of crystal methamphetamine.

CVS said it will also limit the amount of nail polish remover customers may buy.

Many pharmacies and drug stores already limit the sale of certain cold medicines for the same reason.
