MARTINEZ (CBS SF) – A fugitive wanted in connection with two attempted homicides in Contra Costa County was captured in Martinez Wednesday morning, a police lieutenant said.

Pittsburg resident Kenneth Thompson, 30, was arrested at a home on J Street around 9 a.m. in connection with an attempted homicide in Pittsburg last year and another in Antioch in 2010, Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman said.

On Oct. 21, 2012, someone pulled up to a car parked on Harbor Street and shot two women and man inside, according to Raman.

The man and one of the women were treated for their injuries at local hospitals and released. The other woman remains paralyzed from the waist down, the lieutenant said.

Raman said Thompson knew the three victims and was involved in an ongoing feud with their family. He said police believe Thompson was the shooter.

Information about the 2010 Antioch shooting was not immediately available Wednesday.

Raman said law enforcement agencies have actively sought Thompson over the past year, with an investigation that spanned both Contra Costa and Sacramento counties.

Thompson has a long rap sheet that includes a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, Raman said.

Investigators received information that Thompson was hiding at the J Street residence in Martinez and police executed a search warrant there Wednesday morning, Raman said. Residents of neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution during the operation.

Thompson was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to county jail.

Officers from the Contra Costa County Sherirff’s Office, the Antioch and Walnut Creek police departments and the California Department of Justice assisted Pittsburg police in the investigation and arrest, Raman said.
