OAKLAND (CBS/AP) — Oakland Athletics pitcher Bartolo Colon was placed the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.

The All-Star righty hurt himself throwing on flat ground Friday. The A’s made the move Sunday and lefty Tommy Milone was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to start against Cleveland.

Manager Bob Melvin said a break might be good for Colon and described placing him on the disabled list as “the prudent thing to do.”

The 40-year-old Colon didn’t get past the fourth inning in his last two starts. He is 14-5 with a 2.97 ERA.
