Mountain Lion Spotted In Portola Valley Parking Lot

PORTOLA VALLEY (CBS SF) -- A mountain lion was spotted in a parking lot Wednesday night in Portola Valley, San Mateo County emergency officials said.

The cat was seen about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the southwest area of the parking lot at The Sequoias elderly care community, located at 501 Portola Road.

Residents were advised to not approach mountain lions, especially if they are feeding or with offspring.

Anyone who encounters a mountain lion should face it, make loud noises and try to appear large and threatening while throwing rocks or other objects at the cat, emergency officials said.
