3 Displaced By Apartment Fire In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A two-alarm apartment fire in Oakland's Adams Point neighborhood displaced three people Tuesday afternoon, an Oakland fire battalion chief said.

The fire was reported at 1:03 p.m. at a three-story apartment building in the 400 block of Vernon Street, Battalion Chief Coy Justice said.

Firefighters had the fire controlled at 1:20 p.m.

The fire damaged units on the second and third floors of the building, Coy said. Three adults were displaced, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

One person was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation, Coy said. No other injuries were reported.
