NEW YORK, NY (CBS SF/AP) - The 17th century painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring" is coming to a New York City museum this fall.

The Frick Collection will show Johannes Vermeer's portrait of the girl with an enigmatic gaze from Oct. 22 to Jan. 19. The exhibition will include 15 other Old Dutch masterpieces.

They're on loan from the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in the Hague. The Dutch museum hasn't lent a large body of works in nearly 30 years.

A larger version of the exhibition had its U.S. premiere at the de Young Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco earlier this year. It also traveled to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

"Girl with a Pearl Earring" last visited the U.S. during a 1996 Vermeer retrospective at the National Gallery in Washington.
