Danville Woman Injured In Suspected DUI Crash Dies

DANVILLE (CBS SF) -- A woman who was critically injured by a suspected drunk driver in Danville last week has died from her injuries, according to police and the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

Diana Gregory, 53, was walking near Camino Tassajara and Tassajara Lane around 9 p.m. on Aug. 19 when she was struck by a car traveling east on Camino Tassajara, according to police.

Gregory, who was not identified until hours after the crash, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with critical injuries, police said.

She died at the hospital on Tuesday, a coroner's deputy said.

The driver, Danville resident Samuel Herrick, 50, stopped at the scene of the crash and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to county jail in Martinez.

He has since posted $50,000 bail, according to jail records.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing and police said it would likely be at least several weeks before a case is presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
