Firefighters Put Out Early Morning 2-Alarm Blaze In Martinez

MARTINEZ (KCBS/BCN) — Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze surrounded by downed electrical wires in Martinez early Friday morning, according to fire officials.

At about 3:16 a.m. Contra Costa County fire officials received a report of a fire at a car dealership near the intersection of Peach Street and Pacheco Boulevard, a fire dispatcher said.

When firefighters arrived eight cars, a sales office and living space in the back—where two people were able to safely escape from—were engulfed in flames.

The blaze was brought under control at about 4:04 a.m. Firefighters reported that live electrical wires at the scene of the blaze made fighting the fire particularly difficult, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, fire officials said.
