2-Year Old Colton Boy Mauled To Death In Dog Attack

COLTON (CBS/AP) -- Colton police say a 2-year-old boy has been fatally mauled by as many as five dogs.

Police say the attack took place about 5:30 p.m. Monday at a home in Colton.

Officers answering a call of a dog attack found the boy had been severely bitten on his upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to a statement from the Colton Police Department, animal control authorities took five dogs from the home. All of the animals were believed to be Pit Bull mixed breeds.

The boy's name was not released, and police say they don't know what prompted the attack.

Anyone with information about the attack was asked to contact authorities.
