PALO ALTO (CBS SF) – A woman was knocked down and robbed by a man and woman near downtown Palo Alto on Saturday, according to police.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was walking south in the 500 block of Middlefield Road around 3:45 p.m. when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her hair and pulled her to the ground, police said.

A female suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse, but the victim pulled back and was able to retrieve her cellphone and keys before she lost her grip on the bag, police said.

The suspects fled east on Hamilton Avenue from Middlefield Road with the purse, which contained a wallet, some cash and personal property, police said.

The victim called police immediately but officers were unable to locate the suspects.

The victim suffered a minor abrasion on one of her shoulders but did not require medical treatment, police said.

The male suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and athletic shoes. The female suspect was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and athletic shoes. Both were of average height and build.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at (650) 329-2413.
