SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A man was killed and two people injured when an SUV struck a pole in San Jose early Sunday morning, police said.

Police and fire units responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Blossom Hill Road and Winfield Boulevard at about 1:50 a.m., according to San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol.

A 2006 Infiniti SUV apparently struck pole at high speed, Randol said.

The male driver, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

Two female passengers were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

No other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the crash, Randol said.
