Raiders Ownership Reportedly Scouts Old Concord Base As Potential Stadium Site

CONCORD (CBS SF) - Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis scouted the old Concord Naval Weapons station last week in an attempted to locate a future home for the NFL franchise, according to a recent Matier and Ross column in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Concord Mayor Dan Helix, who was on the tour with Davis, said the Raiders owner appeared to like the 5,000 acre site, but did not make any commitments. The site's proximity to the North Concord BART Station could make it a desirable landing spot for the team.

The Raiders are the only NFL team still sharing their facility – currently known as O.Co Coliseum – with a Major League Baseball franchise. The team left Oakland once, for over a decade, in the 1980's and 1990's. In recent years their future home has been the source of speculation.
