VTA Bus, Pickup Truck Crash On I-680, 5 Sent To Hospital

MILPITAS (CBS SF) -- Four passengers in a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus and the driver of a truck were sent to hospitals after a crash on southbound Interstate Highway 680 in Milpitas Tuesday evening, according to VTA officials.

The collision between the VTA bus and a black pickup truck was reported around 5:15 p.m. on southbound Highway 680 at the state Highway 237 connector and blocked multiple lanes. All lanes were clear as of 7:30 p.m., according to the CHP.

The truck's driver and four bus passengers were hospitalized with injuries that aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Twelve passengers on the bus who were uninjured in the crash have been transferred to another bus headed to their final destination, the Great Mall in Milpitas, VTA officials said.
