SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A pedestrian was struck and injured by a vehicle on the Bay Bridge Sunday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The collision was reported at about 10:20 a.m. at the incline of the Bay Bridge’s western span, CHP Officer James Evans said.
Preliminary information indicates a man exited a vehicle on the bridge and ran into traffic, where he was struck by another vehicle, Evans said.
The man survived and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, Evans said. His condition was not known.
Traffic was blocked for about 50 minutes while the incident was cleared, he said.
The collision remains under investigation.
