Sunday-Morning Shooting Is San Jose's 39th Homicide Of The Year

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- San Jose police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in the city early Sunday morning, a spokeswoman said.

At about 4:25 a.m., the police department responded to reports of a person who was shot in the 100 block of Morrison Avenue, San Jose police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol said.

Relatives of the victim, a man in his 30s, drove him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m., Randol said.

At about 5:15 a.m., police detained a suspect and took him into custody, Randol said. His name has not been released.

The suspect was known to the victim, police said.

The death was San Jose's 39th homicide of 2013, Randol said.
