OAKLAND (CBS SF) – A woman who was hit by a truck and killed while walking on westbound Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland Thursday morning has been identified as Adriana Castellanos-Remirez, according to the Alameda County coroner’s office.
Castellanos-Remirez, 42, of Oakland, was struck by a truck around 4:45 a.m. on I-580 near state Highway 13, according to the California Highway Patrol.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two westbound lanes were closed until about 6:20 a.m. after the incident, according to the CHP.
There was no vehicle associated with Castellanos-Remirez near the scene of the crash and investigators have not yet determined why she was walking on the highway, the CHP said.
