Kentucky Woman Lured To Vallejo Raped, Kidnapped

VALLEJO (CBS SF) - A man who raped and kidnapped a woman after luring her to Vallejo from Kentucky was arrested Thursday, police said.

Officers responded to a reported rape in the area of Couch and Redwood streets at about 11:40 a.m. Thursday.

When police arrived, the victim identified the suspect as 39-year-old Laron Hamilton. Hamilton was stopped, detained and arrested, according to police.

The victim was transported to a hospital to be treated.

An investigation discovered the woman had been convinced by Hamilton to move to Vallejo from Kentucky to pursue a modeling career, police said.

When the woman arrived in Vallejo at Hamilton's residence in the 1000 block of Roleen Drive, Hamilton reportedly told her she was going to be a prostitute and work for him, according to police.

The woman refused, and Hamilton allegedly physically assaulted and raped her several times. Hamilton then is alleged of refusing to let the woman leave for several days, police said.

A search warrant was served at Hamilton's home and several items, including a handgun, were seized. The items tended to support the victim's statements, police said.

Hamilton's child was at the home at the time the warrant was served, according to police. Solano County Child Protective Services took the child into protective custody.

Hamilton was booked into jail on suspicion of rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and child endangerment.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Vallejo police at (707) 553-7213
