Coroner ID's Vallejo Man Killed After Being Run Over By 2 Cars, Dragged

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- The Solano County coroner's office has identified a pedestrian who was killed when he was run over by two vehicles and then dragged nearly a mile in Vallejo on Tuesday evening as 41-year-old Edwin Andrews.

Vallejo police responded to a 6:06 p.m. report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 1900 block of Broadway Street near Tuolumne Street, police Sgt. Kevin Hamrick said.

Police received a second report three minutes later about a person trapped under a vehicle at Stanford and Mini drives, nearly a mile away, and determined that the incidents were related, Hamrick said.

Andrews had been knocked to the ground when he was struck by the first vehicle, which was traveling north in the left lane on Broadway Street, Hamrick said.

The driver of the second car then unknowingly hit Andrews in the No. 2 lane, trapping him under the vehicle, Hamrick said.

That driver continued driving until he was flagged down at Mini and Stanford drives by a citizen who informed him that someone was trapped under his car, Hamrick said.

Andrews, a Vallejo resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
