Oakland City Councilwoman To Run For Mayor In 2014

OAKLAND (KCBS) — Oakland City Councilwoman Libby Schaaf filed papers on Monday to run for mayor in 2014.

Speaking to reporters outside the Oakland City Clerk's office, Schaaf said that reducing police response times and creating jobs will be among her top priorities.

She said she's extremely frustrated with the level of services and the speed of progress in the city.

Schaaf is expected to compete against Mayor Jean Quan (who plans to run again), Port of Oakland Commissioner Bryan Parker, college professor and political commentator Joe Tuman, among others.
