Fire Guts Unit At San Jose Mobile Home Park

SAN JOSE (KCBS) – A one-alarm fire was extinguished at a mobile home park in South San Jose early Wednesday morning, but not before one unit was deemed a total loss.

Fire officials received reports of a fire at the Casa Alondra mobile home park, located at 5450 Monterey Road, shortly after 2:00 a.m. The stubborn fire was brought under control at about 4:00 a.m., but not before the unit was completely gutted, including a roof collapse.

No injuries were reported, though the resident remained unaccounted for.

"The resident, from what we can tell so far, his car is not there and they (neighbors) hadn't seen him in a day or so," said San Jose fire Capt. Rob Brown. "So, we're hoping that he wasn't home."

Neighbors said the man lived alone in the unit.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
