Crash Closes Lane Of Hwy 101 In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A lane of U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose was closed after a car crashed into a power pole early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 1:05 a.m. in the area of Highway 101 and Hellyer Avenue, the CHP said.

The car went off the highway and onto city streets, coming to a rest against a power pole, according to the CHP.

CHP said the car would remain against the pole to avoid it from falling over the highway.

Repair for the pole will take about 16 hours, until roughly 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the CHP said.

The slow lane of Highway 101, just north of the Hellyer Avenue off-ramp, will be closed as PG&E crews repair the pole, the CHP said.
