15-Year-Old Arrested With Uzi Submachine Gun In Richmond

RICHMOND (CBS SF) - A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Richmond on Monday after police officers spotted him carrying an Uzi submachine gun, a police sergeant said Tuesday.

Officers were in the 900 block of Ninth Street around 4 p.m. when they saw the teen take off running and pull a machine gun from his waistband, Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

The boy ran into the nearby home of an acquaintance, where officers found him and the Uzi, the sergeant said.

The teen, a Richmond resident, was arrested for possession of a firearm and on an outstanding arrest warrant, and taken to juvenile hall in Martinez.

His name is being withheld because of his age.
