Scam Artists Target Elderly Drivers In El Cerrito Shopping Centers

EL CERRITO (CBS SF) -- Elderly shoppers in El Cerrito are being targeted by scam artists, police said.

Shoppers reported three incidents Friday involving scam artists attempting to trick drivers into thinking they hit them with their cars. They all occurred in shopping centers.

The suspects are all women, the youngest being in her late 30s and the oldest being about 80 years old. A 2003 Honda CR-V is believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle by two suspects in one of the incidents near a Safeway.

The El Cerrito Police Department is urging residents to look out for scams, especially during the holidays.
