SF Police Recover Stolen ATM After High-Speed Chase Through City

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Police recovered a stolen ATM from a stolen van after pursuing a wrong-way driver on Interstate Highway 80 in San Francisco Wednesday morning.

About 3:30 a.m., San Francisco police responded to reports that an ATM had been stolen from the 2400 block of Fillmore Street, near Alta Plaza Park.

According to police, two male suspects used a van to rip the machine free and then fled the area in the van.

Officers said they followed the suspect vehicle onto eastbound Interstate Highway 80.

Police said the suspect vehicle came off the Bay Bridge heading west in the eastbound lanes of I-80 and then exited at 5th and Bryant streets.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects evaded officers and a pursuit was initiated.
