6-Year-Old San Jose Girl Seriously Hurt After Being Struck By Car

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A 6-year-old girl was seriously injured Tuesday after she was struck by a vehicle after running onto a neighborhood street in South San Jose, police said.

At 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched based on a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the 1000 block of Thorndale Court about a quarter of a mile west of U.S. Highway 101, police said.

The 6-year-old female victim had run from behind a parked motor home onto Thorndale and the right fender of a car driven by an adult female collided with her, police said.

The girl suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was transported for treatment to a hospital, police said.

The driver remained at the scene until police arrived and alcohol and drugs were not considered factors in the collision, police said.
