Man Gunned Down In Santa Rosa Apartment Parking Lot

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A Santa Rosa man died after he was shot near a Santa Rosa apartment building early Tuesday morning, police said.

The 20-year-old man was found around 2 a.m. on the ground in the parking area of the apartment complex at 2001 Piner Road, police said.

The Redwood Park Apartments are listed at that address.

An apartment manager said this afternoon she could not comment on the on-going investigation.

Police responded to the area after a call of shots fired. The man was found with bullet wounds to his torso and arm.

He was treated at the scene and transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family. He was not a resident at the apartment complex, police said.

There is no information about a suspect and no one was found after a search of the area this morning, police said.

Witnesses said there appeared to be some sort of argument before gunfire broke out, according to police.

The shooting is under investigation.
